Cancellation & Refund Policy
Last Updated: August 27, 2026
At The Mahogany Table, each culinary experience is thoughtfully planned specifically for the client. Reserving an event may require menu development, scheduling, ingredient sourcing, staffing, travel arrangements, and declining other bookings for the reserved date.
For these reasons, the following cancellation and refund policies apply unless different terms are stated in your individual service agreement.
Retainers & Booking
A non-refundable retainer is required to secure your event date and begin the planning process. The amount of the retainer will be provided in your proposal, invoice, or service agreement.
Once the retainer has been paid, it is non-refundable. The retainer compensates The Mahogany Table for reserving your requested date, beginning the planning process, and potentially declining other bookings for that date.
The retainer will be applied toward the total cost of your contracted services. Payment of the retainer does not constitute payment in full unless specifically stated in writing.
Your event date is not considered officially reserved until the required retainer has been received and any required service agreement has been completed.
Remaining Balance
The remaining balance for your experience must be paid by the due date stated on your invoice, proposal, or service agreement.
Failure to make the final payment by the required deadline may result in cancellation of the booking and release of the event date.
Any exception or payment extension must be approved by The Mahogany Table in writing.
Client Cancellations
We understand that plans sometimes change. If you need to cancel your event, please notify The Mahogany Table as soon as possible.
Unless your individual service agreement states otherwise:
-
30 days or more before the event: Payments made beyond the non-refundable retainer may be eligible for a refund, less any non-refundable expenses already incurred specifically for your event.
-
15–29 days before the event: Up to 50% of payments made beyond the non-refundable retainer may be eligible for a refund, after deduction of any expenses already incurred.
-
14 days or fewer before the event: Payments are non-refundable.
Any ingredients, rentals, travel arrangements, lodging, transportation, staffing costs, specialty items, processing fees, or other event-specific expenses already purchased or committed to on the client’s behalf are non-refundable.
Rescheduling
Requests to reschedule are handled on a case-by-case basis and are subject to availability.
When possible, The Mahogany Table may allow eligible payments to be transferred to a new date rather than treating the event as a cancellation.
A rescheduling fee or additional charges may apply when the change results in additional costs, changes in pricing, travel modifications, ingredient loss, or other expenses.
Approval of a rescheduling request is not guaranteed.
Guest Count or Menu Changes
Reductions in guest count after the final guest-count deadline do not automatically qualify for a refund or reduction in the contracted price.
Menu changes, additional guests, additional service dates, upgraded ingredients, or other changes may result in additional charges.
Once ingredients, rentals, supplies, or other event-specific items have been purchased, those costs cannot be refunded because the client later changes the event.
Travel & Destination Expenses
For vacation dining and destination chef services, certain travel-related expenses may be purchased or reserved in advance.
Non-refundable airfare, transportation, lodging, baggage fees, rentals, parking, specialty purchases, or other travel expenses incurred for the client’s booking are the responsibility of the client and are not refundable due to client cancellation.
Cancellation by The Mahogany Table
In the rare event that The Mahogany Table must cancel a confirmed service and we are unable to provide an acceptable alternative or rescheduled date, the client will receive a refund of payments made to The Mahogany Table for services that were not provided.
This does not include amounts already refunded, credited, or otherwise resolved.
Severe Weather & Circumstances Beyond Our Control
Events affected by severe weather, transportation disruptions, government restrictions, utility failures, emergencies, natural disasters, venue closures, or other circumstances outside the reasonable control of either party will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
When reasonably possible, we will work with the client toward rescheduling or another appropriate solution.
Refunds are not guaranteed for expenses that The Mahogany Table has already incurred and cannot recover.
Refund Processing
When a refund is approved, it will generally be returned using the original payment method when reasonably possible.
Processing times may vary depending on the payment provider or financial institution.
Individual Service Agreements
Specific events may have cancellation, payment, or refund terms tailored to the particular service.
If the terms of a signed service agreement conflict with this general website policy, the terms of the applicable signed service agreement will control for that booking.
